Counter Questions

How long do Countertop Projects take?

The timeline can vary depending on the size of the project. A standard kitchen demo and install typically takes 1 day. New construction installs will usually take 1 to 2 days depending on the scope. Some highly custom projects can last 2+ days and even be split into phases depending on the homeowner or contractor’s needs.

How long will my project take from start to finish?

Jobs can go as quickly as one day or extend over multiple weeks, depending on the product and services you purchase. We ask clients to consult with our sales team at the time of sale to ensure their expectations are met.

How long from measuring my job to install?

Pending the urgency of your job, a common turnaround from measure to install is usually 2 weeks. Many factors can contribute to the actual timeline.

Does AFC remove and reconnect plumbing and gas?

No, we do not remove and reconnect plumbing or gas. We can give service provider recommendations.

Does AFC move appliances?

Yes, for an additional cost. However, we do not reinstall them.

Does AFC haul off trash?

Yes.

Are the countertops sealed?

All natural stone is sealed by the manufacturer prior to coming stateside. However, we offer standard sealers as a part of our service. Speak with your sales representative to discuss upgrading to a bullet proof sealer. Man-made stone is not sealed.

How often should I seal counters?

The MIA recommends sealing your natural stone every 3-6 months depending on the usage. It is important to know that each stone requires different amounts of sealer, depending on the porosity of the material.

What is AFC Warranty Policy?

AFC offers a 1 Year Workmanship Warranty. Our manufacturers offer all standard material warranties.

Will AFC install out of town?

Yes, AFC does out of town work. Our typical radius is up to 150 miles out of the Baton Rouge area.

Will AFC fabricate and install material that I provide?

Yes.

What is the difference between natural and man-made stone?

Natural stone is quarried from the Earth, in multiple regions around the globe. Manufactured stone is made with crushed crystals of quartz, resins, and pigments to make up the color palette.

Will granite vary in color?

Yes. The appeal of granite is the uniqueness of each piece. Colors vary from slab to slab and even within the individual piece. Because of this, it is best if you hand select your slab.

Will quartz vary in color?

No.

Can I put hot things on quartz and granite?

Quartz and granite are heat resistant. However, extreme heat may damage the stone, especially at the seams. We recommend using hot pads or trivets.

Can I cut on my countertop?

No. We recommend using cutting boards to ensure no damage is caused.

Which type of countertop is recommended for my bathroom?

This is a preference of the homeowner. Our client’s use anything from Quartz, to Marble, depending on their preference.

Are seams visible on counters?

Even though AFC does it’s best to ensure the least visible seams possible, seams will always be seen when looked closely at.

Is it common for quartz to chip easily?

Not common, but it can definitely happen.

What is the difference between quartz, granite, marble, quartzite?

Flooring Questions

How long will my installation take?

Installs can vary from 1 day, to multiple weeks pending the scope. We ask clients to consult with their sales rep to have a better idea.

How do I know if a tile is floor or wall rated?

We ask clients to consult with a sales rep to ensure the tile they are selecting is rated for the use they intend to use it for.

Do you install stair treads?

Yes. We can install stair treads comprised of carpet, vinyl, laminate, or engineered wood. Solid wood treads are typically installed by a trim carpenter. We can assist with recommendations.

Will AFC install my shoe molding?

Yes, AFC installs both primed white or stain grade shoe mold. However, we do not caulk or paint/stain either. We are happy to recommend people for this.

Does AFC move appliances/furniture?

Yes, AFC moves furniture as a service when needed for clients. We will move and place back furniture before and after the install. This is limited, and does not include breakables, electronics, or personal belongings. As for appliances, AFC will move any appliances needed prior to install and place back at completion. We do not disconnect or reconnect any appliances.

What is AFC's Warranty Policy?

AFC offers a 1 Year Workmanship Warranty. Our manufacturers offer all standard material warranties.

Does AFC demo and haul off trash?

Yes, AFC will demo and haul off trash if the client is purchasing those services.

Does AFC cover for dust?

Yes. Please consult with your sales rep, as there are many tiers to containing dust. Based on your needs, we can ensure to deliver the service to your expectations.

Does AFC take back material?

Any AFC stocking products that are purchased can be returned. However, custom orders at times cannot. Most times custom items cannot be returned. If by chance they can, there is typically a restocking fee of up to 25%. AFC cannot be liable due to left over material. In construction it is extremely tough to calculate the exact amount needed for a project. We cannot always determine how much waste will be needed. We order based on industry standard calculation with the intention of making sure to have enough to finish your project, with a small amount left over for back up.

Will AFC install material that I provide?

Yes.

Does AFC install flooring outside?

Yes.

Can AFC help if I have subfloor issues?

In some instances, yes. However, if we cannot, we are happy to recommended one of our trusted trade partners.

Will AFC install out of town?

Yes, AFC does out of town work. Our typical radius is up to 150 miles out of the Baton Rouge area.

Does AFC deliver material to jobsites?

If a client purchases material and installation service from AFC, we do deliver to jobsite. We currently do not deliver Material Only orders to jobsites.

Is AFC licensed and insured?

Yes.

What type of payments do you accept?

We accept all major cards (Visa, Mastercard, Discover, and American Express). There is a 4% fee on all card transactions. To avoid the fee, we accept cash, check or ACH.

Can I bring my house plans?

Yes! We encourage you to email your plans to your sales representative so we can get a better understanding of your space/layout.

Can I measure my own space?

For Estimates, yes. However, if we provide the material and installation for your project, we prefer to send our Field Experts out to assess and measure your space.

Do you offer a labor or material warranty?

Yes. We offer a 1 Year Workmanship Warranty.

How long does it take for my materials to come in?

Material lead times vary based on the vendors we purchase from. Generally, if a material is not backordered, it should arrive to our warehouse within 10 workings days. At times, materials can be ready as soon as the same day.

Do our installers work for us?

Yes. Our installers are 1099 contractors that work exclusively with AFC.

Do you have materials in stock?

Yes! We have granite, quartz, quartzite and marble counter options in stock. We also stock tile, LVT, and carpet.

Do I need a contractor?

No, you do not need a contractor.

Can I purchase material only?

Yes.

Do you offer financing?

Yes. We offer Synchrony financing. Please contact our Accounts Receivables department directly to get more information: jdulin@assuredflooring.net.

Will I owe a deposit?

Yes. Typically, a deposit is 60% of the total Sales Order.

When is my final payment due?

Unless payment terms have been approved by our Admin Department, all payments are due upon receipt.

What can I expect the day of installation?

Typically the first day of your project will consist of delivering your materials, walking our installers through the project, and ensuring all parties are on the same page to execute the perfect install!

How do I prepare for installation?

Due to the amounts of services we provide, we ask you to lean on your sales rep and project manager to ensure you are properly prepared for your install.

Can I take samples home?

Yes.

What is your return policy? Is there a restocking fee?
